Post-Rehabilitation Training

Physical therapy is often the first phase of recovery. Post-rehabilitation training is the next phase—where you rebuild strength, restore movement quality, and regain confidence so you can return to work, training, and everyday life without feeling fragile or limited.

At Contursi Personal Training, we bridge the gap between fitness and healthcare with an assessment-driven process and individualized programming. This is not “bootcamp rehab.” It’s structured, progressive training built around what your body can do today—and what it needs to do next.

Who This Is For

Post-rehabilitation training is a fit if you:

  • Were discharged from physical therapy, but still feel weak, stiff, or hesitant

  • Want a plan that continues progress—without re-aggravating your issue

  • Need help returning to lifting, running, sport, or physically demanding work

  • Feel “better,” but don’t trust the joint or movement yet

  • Want coaching, accountability, and a clear progression plan

Common conditions we support (with medical clearance as needed):

  • Back, neck, shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle issues

  • Post-surgical return-to-training (e.g., ACL, meniscus, rotator cuff, joint replacement)

  • Tendon and overuse issues (e.g., plantar fasciitis, tendinopathy)

  • Balance and stability limitations after time off or injury

If you’re still in pain, have red-flag symptoms, or haven’t been evaluated, we will refer you to the appropriate healthcare professional first.

Our Approach: Assessment → Plan → Progression

1) Start With a Movement & Posture Assessment

We begin by looking at the fundamentals that often get missed after discharge:

  • Joint range of motion and control

  • Strength deficits side-to-side

  • Balance, coordination, and stability

  • Movement compensations (how your body is “cheating” to avoid discomfort)

  • Tolerance to load, tempo, and volume

2) Build a Personalized Program

Your plan is designed around your goals and your current capacity:

  • Mobility and positional work to restore comfortable movement

  • Strength training to rebuild tissue capacity and resilience

  • Core, hips, and scapular stability to reduce compensation

  • Gradual reintroduction of impact, speed, or sport-specific demands (when appropriate)

  • Clear progressions so you know exactly what “next” looks like

3) Reassess and Progress Intelligently

You will never be guessing. We track progress, adjust weekly, and recheck key markers so your training stays safe, productive, and aligned with your goals.

What You Can Expect

You can expect:

  • 1:1 coaching and detailed attention to form and technique

  • A structured plan that prioritizes safety and long-term results

  • A pace that matches your recovery, not someone else’s workout

  • Strength, mobility, and confidence that carry over to real life

Our goal is simple: help you move better, get stronger, and feel capable again.

Why Post-Rehab Training Matters

Many people finish physical therapy feeling “cleared,” but not fully prepared for:

  • heavier lifting

  • longer walks or runs

  • carrying kids or grandkids

  • yard work, stairs, and daily demands

  • returning to sport or a physical job

Post-rehab training closes that gap by building capacity—so your body can handle life again, not just pass a discharge test.

FAQ

Do I need to be finished with physical therapy first?
Typically, yes. If you’re still in PT, we can coordinate timing and intensity with your clinician when appropriate.

Do you work with my diagnosis or surgery type?
We work from an assessment-driven framework and your current presentation. If anything is outside our scope, we refer out.

Is this the same as corrective exercise?
There is overlap. Post-rehab training is the bridge from rehab to full training—often including corrective exercise, strength, and progressive return-to-activity work.

How long does post-rehab training take?
It depends on your history, goals, and consistency. Most people notice meaningful improvement within the first several weeks, with progress continuing as strength and tolerance build.
